Before cosmetic chin surgery, the surgeon needs to be informed about the candidates medical conditions. Patients who smoke may be advised to quit prior to the chin implants as healing may be delayed due to the smoking habit. If the patient has a history of dental problems, that may also factor into their candidacy for chin implants.
